Three Clubs Recognized for Growing Boys Field Hockey

Congratulations to three Northern California recipients of the 2025 Tom Harris Boys Play Field Hockey Grants. Hayward Hawks, Roseville Field Hockey Club, and San Francisco Hawks were recognized as organizations creating "Boys Field Hockey Hot Spots" to expand opportunities for boys in the sport.
Tom Harris, the namesake of these grants, pioneered men’s and boys' field hockey in the US alongside his late brother, Dave, in Southern CA. They inspired a street hockey team at Sinaloa Junior High to become the first boy’s field hockey team in Ventura County, the Simi Valley Cobras. Some of those first players went on to the Olympics in 1984.

We're excited to see all that these clubs achieve as they carry on Harris's legacy right here in our backyard. Perhaps we'll see some of our own Northern California athletes competing on the Men's National Team in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles!

Local Players Shine on the Collegiate Stage
Congrats to the following Bay Area locals for making a splash on their respective collegiate teams:
- Scarlett Carpenter (SF University HS '25; SF Hawks) - The Tufts freshman scored her first collegiate goal on September 13 against Colby.
- Madison Krejdovsky (Gilroy '24; Infinity Sports Club) - The UCLA sophomore was named practice captain for UCLA Club Field Hockey.
- Jordan Reicher (St. Francis ‘23; NorCal Impact) - The American University Junior was Patriot League offensive player of the week on September 22.

- BVAL: League play has just begun, but Christopher is on top after Gilroy and Leigh tied 0-0 on October 7.
- EAL: Davis Sr. High School leads the way with an 9-1 league record, taking one upset loss from Chico in OT.
- MCAL: Redwood is on top with a 10-2 league record, but Tam is close behind with an 9-1-3 record.
- PCAL: Stevenson leads the way with a 7-0 league record, while Carmel follows close behind at 7-1 in league play.
- SCVAL (De Anza; El Camino): St. Ignatius and St. Francis are at the top of the De Anza Division table, both with 6-0-1 league records. Meanwhile, Los Gatos dominates the El Camino standings at 9-0, outscoring their opponents 122-1!
NCAA Action
- Cal is 0-3 in ACC play, having lost to tough opponents, all ranked in the top 10 nationally. Liz Klompmaker, last season's ACC Freshman of the Year, continues to be an attacking force with 10 goals on the season.
- Stanford tallied a win against Louisville in shoot outs on September 26, taking their ACC record to 1-3. With several close losses, the Cardinal look to climb the ACC rankings as they face three conference opponents over the next two weeks.
- Davis improved their record to 5-6 after a 2-1 overtime win against St. Louis on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Aggies will head back to the East Coast for two games in North Carolina following a weeklong break.
